What is Vermeil?
Vermeil (pronounced "ver-may") is jewelry made from sterling silver that’s coated with a thick layer of gold—at least 2.5 microns and 10 karats or higher—using electroplating. It’s more durable and upscale than standard gold-plated pieces, but much more affordable than solid gold.
